Work Auster Force regrouped in time in the deciding Game 3 to take a 2-1 reverse sweep against eliminated Laus Playbook Esports and stay in contention for a Playoffs spot in the MPL Philippines Season 7 on Sunday, May 16.

Clarense “Kousei” Camilo’s Pharsa and Frediemar “3MarTzy” Serafico’s Uranus spearheaded the crucial team wipe inside LPE’s jungle in the seventh minute which enabled Work to pull away from a tight early game.

A pickoff by Daniel “Chuuu” Chu’s Ling on Erwin “Yakou” Magno’s Popol & Kupa resulted in a free Lord take and eventually a 17-8 victory in just 13 minutes.

Kousei dealt 40K damage via the Feathered Air Strike and other magic nukes to finish with a 4-1-6 kill-death-assist record while Chuuu took up the clean-up job to hit 5-1-8.

Game 3 stats

Patrick “rTzy” Grecia’s Selena stepped up in Game 2, allowing Work to force a do-or-die game.

Coach Laurenz “Lift” Ruiz’s league rookies grabbed the No. 2 spot in Group A at the moment with 23 points on an 8-5 series record, ahead of reigning world and MPL-PH champion Bren Esports.

Due to head-to-head disadvantage, Work needs Bren to lose against Smart Omega in the rematch of last season’s finals later on for them to secure the upper bracket seat and face Group B top seed Blacklist International in the Playoffs.

LPE, which convincingly won Game 1 on the back of Joshua “Aspect” Tating’s Granger, fell short of closing out its campaign on a winning note.

Coach Brian “Panda” Lim’s squad ended its MPL season debut with nine points on a 3-10 slate in Group B.
