Onic Philippines seizes an early lead in the MPL PH standings after dealing Nexplay EVOS its third straight series loss to start Season 8

Onic Philippines made quick work of Nexplay EVOS to keep its record unscathed in Season 8 of the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) on Friday, September 3.

Unbeaten in its first two series to start the season, Onic seized an early lead in the standings with a total of 8 points as it swept struggling Nexplay in their best-of-three affair.

Nexplay star Renejay "Renejay" Bacarse saw action for the first time in Season 8, but Onic spoiled his debut behind Allen "Baloyskie" Baloy.

Baloyskie, who returned to Onic after three seasons with Sunsparks/Aura Philippines, delivered 5 kills and 2 assists agains 2 deaths on Nathan in Game 2 as they kept Nexplay winless.

Although Nexplay led Game 2 in kills, 9-6, Onic turned the tides in its favor with a crucial Lord take at the 22nd minute.

Onic then wrapped up the series within the next two minutes to notch its second sweep win of the season.

Nowee "Ryota" Cabailo (X Borg) proved to be a thorn on the side of Nexplay, which stayed at last place with just 1 point, as he tallied 1 kill and 4 assists against 0 deaths for Onic.

Meanwhile, Omega Esports finally clinched its first series win after sweeping RSG Philippines.

Winless during the first week as it adjusted without suspended Duane "Kelra" Pillas, Omega broke through thanks to a dramatic come-from-behind victory in Game 1.

Trailing in gold earned and turrets destroyed throughout the series opener, Omega found its opening as it killed the Lord at the 26th minute en route to the stunning win.

Omega then beat RSG in 20 minutes the following game to improve to 4 points for 4th place in the standings.
